Quicksand Dry Shampoo & Molding Paste by Hanz de Fuko

Make no mistake, Hanz de Fuko’s Quicksand is not your usual molding paste! This two-in-one product gives your hair a sea-salty texture and a matte finish. We love its versatility – capable of giving your hair superb shape, it will even tame and redirect those stubborn cowlicks! Plus, a little goes quite a long way… and no one will ever know you even have product on your hair. Featuring diatomaceous earth and bentonite clay, Quicksand is sure to soak up excess oil, while algae extract soothes and goldenseal extract cleanses and controls dry scalp. An added benefit is the volume achieved with this product – fantastic all around!

Babo Botanicals Clear Zinc Sunscreen

We were admittedly very excited when we heard about Babo Botanicals’ Clear Zinc Sunscreen with no nano particles. We also admit we were skeptical. But this product has surpassed any of our expectations of what a good sunscreen should be. Not only is is effective against sunburn (30 SPF) but it is completely natural and safe for children. The formula goes on clear, so no worries about the white mask effect from most zinc sunscreens. Aided by the addition of organic oils, it absorbs quickly and soothes the skin … and it even has a pleasant scent. Another plus? Babo Botanicals zinc sunscreen is not greasy at all! This may just be the perfect sunscreen on the market … at least we will tout it as so!

Divine Mama Bars

The perfect addition to a lactating woman’s diet, Divine Mama Bars are packed with healthy, milk-producing ingredients that can aid in maintaining milk supply. Divine Mama has created this yummy bar to replace the typical protein bars, which may be filled with unnecessary sugars or genetically-modified ingredients. The simple ingredients in Divine Mama Bars provide many of the vitamins and minerals, plus the protein and fiber, a breastfeeding mother needs. So how do these bars taste? Our testers give them a thumbs up! The chewy Datey Apricot Cashew Bar is a perfect blend of sweetness (but not too sweet!) and nuttiness. The Macnut Chocolate Chip Bar is a wonderful combination of nuts, chocolate and a hint of fruity sweetness. We love their fresh, healthy taste and the energy gained from eating them is such a blessing for a nursing mother.

Sprout Eco-Friendly Watches

We were excited to find out about Sprout Watches. Little did we know that an eco-friendly timepiece actually exists! Sprout creates styles to fit every member of the family -- from elegant to sporty to whimsical – yet their appeal doesn’t stop there. We felt good wearing this watch knowing that the determined men and women who created it went to great lengths to find the most natural materials and practiced low-impact manufacturing. And did we mention the variety of earth-friendly and socially-responsible style choices Sprout offers? From bands made with organic cotton, corn resin and recyclable Tyvek to watch faces made with conflict-free diamonds, bamboo, cork and Mother of Pearl to mineral crystal lenses and mercury-free batteries, Sprout has the eco-friendly spectrum covered! And, of course, it must be said that we were impressed by the comfort and durability of these watches. Sprout also gives a percentage of their profits to 1% for the Planet, Riverkeeper and Trees for the Future.

Organic Nag Champa

The only thing better than Nag Champa is Organic Nag Champa! My mom always burned incense and now I always burn incense. In our house, for the most part, it’s either Incense of the West or Champa and when my best friend told me about Organic Champa I became very excited!

Made in India and sold 50 sticks per pack, it burns well, and it smells delicious. There’s really nothing else to say besides, “The only thing better than Nag Champa is Organic Nag Champa!”

Hoop Revolution’s Core Foundation CD and The Original EcoHoop

Hoop Revolution is an amazing company that has just developed a 100% all-recycled plastic hoop called The Original EcoHoop. I just finished using it with their Core Foundation hoop dance DVD. The hoop is very light and has an aluminum push button connector which is super recyclable and makes the hoop easy to travel with and to ship.

The cool thing is that this kind of workout creates and develops a skill, so you’re not just exercising, you’re learning cool festival tricks, while working your core… a recent mommy’s regular trouble spot!

As Hoop Dance pioneer Anah Reichenbach says during the introduction, hoop dance “Embraces pleasure and celebrates life” by shutting down our minds and opens us up to becoming playful with our bodies. She is an amazing dancer, with a stunningly fit body so I think she knows what she’s talking about. Together with “the Mother of the Modern Hoop Dance Revolution," Rayna McInturf, Raichenbach is going to help take my body to the place it once was and help me regain my self esteem as a firey woman, because this is the kind of workout I can do everyday in the living room when the baby’s asleep. Then I can take it to the streets. PERFECT!

Sacred Space Ceremonial Spray from Napa Valley Au Natural

If only the smell would last forever!

Touted as the “liquid alternative to smudging” this earthy spray is made with White Sage and Obsidian by artistic alchemist Anna Wingfield of Nappa Valley, CA. and comes in 2 oz. bottles.

Also available at her Etsy.com shop, YouArePrecious, you can find her own personal blends for anointing oils, scar oils, herbal remedies, perfume oils, scrubs and many other lovely things.

I love the smell of burning sage, and so honestly my only issue with this spray is the small doesn’t last as long as a smudge would. Other than that my entire family took to it very well.

Autumn Leaf Scarf and Gloves from Folk Owl

Sometimes everything in an Etsy.com shop is so beautiful, it’s very difficult to choose something. Such is the case with British based Folk Owl. Upcycled and recycled wearable felt art in the forms of bags, vests, hoods, hats, gloves, cuffs and the list goes on.

Shop owner Angela Shannon has been inspired by her youthful playtimes with her sister in the enchanted woods near her childhood home, which is apparent in her wooded and magical designs.

The fingerless gloves are warm and sturdy with a drawstring synch to fit most size hands. I have to say, though the Autumnal scarf she sent me for review was thinner that I expected, because it is made of felt, it was super warm and cozy around my neck.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Perfume Oil Blends

Don’t let their super-text heavy website deter you from diving into their olfactory genius! Flooded by old words and texts and poetry to define and describe each sent the website has hundreds of blends to come to know. This dark and lovely lab of alchemists creates sensual scents from ancient wisdoms with a gothic and medieval decadence.

I was sent a slew of oil blends to review and quite honestly there were a couple that so offended my palette I gave them straight away! People, including myself, have a specific taste and sensibility toward aromas… especially those that are wearable potions and perfumes.

However, I keep with me 3 that are perfectly suited to my tastes and personality: Morocco, Snake and Dorian oil blends are my choices so far, and when they’ve gone I will positively be trying some new ones!

Eco Ditty Reusable Snack Bags

There are quite a few reusable snack and sandwich bags cropping up on the market these days but Eco Ditty are definitely among our favorites! What makes these bags stand out is the fact that they use 100% organic, fair trade cotton with low-impact dyes and inks and are equipped with a hook-and-loop enclosure, allowing you to vary the size of your bag. Plus, they are quite durable, with an un-dyed organic cotton liner while the fold-over flap eliminates spills. We are confident when carrying around our snacks in Eco Ditty bags – we haven’t had a spill yet! And at the end of the day we can just toss it in the dishwasher (yes, the dishwasher!), happily saying goodbye to plastic lunch containers for good.

Essential Oil Cards from Chronicle Books

Making lotions, massage oils, soaps and aromatheraputic blends of essential oils is a wonderful hobby for some and a way of life for others. This deck is more intended for the novice naturopath who would like to get their feet wet in these ancient ways and learn about healing the mind, body and soul through nature’s medicine.

This deck does not contain a complete knowledge set on herbs and their uses. In fact the first time I went to look something up I was saddened when the herb in question wasn’t there. But this deck has three sections: Instruction Cards, Uses Cards and Essential Oil Cards and for the most part it is well organized for the beginning healer.

Co-author Hope Gillerman has her own line of organic oil blends called H.Gillerman Organics that includes (but not limited to) breathing, jaw clenching, stress and muscle pain remedies.

Henna Kits from Earth Henna

Cohabitating with an artistically inclined teenager means I find doodles and designs on all of her notebooks, shoes and jackets. She’s 18 now, so it also means there is a lot of talk about tattoos in our house. Before she turned 18 and was able to get a tattoo, she got into Henna designs and out the gate was a great freestyle designer.

Henna kits like this one are great for artistic expression, the ink is not permanent, and Henna is backed by a tradition rich with love, honor, and beauty. Teenagers can get their “tribal” on and they get to practice their skin art without using pen and markers!

Because she’s a pro who has used several kits, she did say that this kit’s Henna didn’t last as long as she would have liked but that might be perfect for the beginning artist.

Blue Tulips Explorer Bag from Rosy Toes Designs

This handmade messenger-style beauty is made from 100% wool with a sturdy cotton duck lining. It is truly a work of art – no two bags are exactly the same! Lucy from Rosy Toes Designs creates gorgeous, handmade felted wool bags and accessories with quality and artistry in mind. I was impressed when I received the Blue Tulips Explorer Bag in the mail – not only is it beautiful but it is so sturdy and well-made, heirloom quality for sure. Lucy added important touches like a durable lining with separate compartments, one of which closes via a hidden magnetic snap. The strap is comfortable and adjustable. This purse is very feminine; the tulip detail is elegant and fun at the same time. One thing we love about this bag is that it’s a very versatile; it’s perfect for a nice evening out but works as a casual bag as well. This purse will be treasured for many, many years to come!

Sweet Orange, Cinnamon + Clove Sugar Scrub from Celadon Road

We were excited to find out about Celadon Road because they promote green, healthy and socially responsible living – and their products are a testament to that. This sugar scrub is a wonderful complement to the perfect autumn day; it will tantalize your senses with pure, organic ingredients and essential oils of sweet orange, cinnamon and clove. This is the most scrumptious body scrub your skin will ever meet! Not only does it do the trick of softening the rough spots and leaving your skin feeling luxurious, but its scent will linger long after your similarly-scented holiday baking has been gobbled up. Celadon Road’s sugar scrub is one of Bamboo’s favorite products! But just as a warning: you may want to buy more than one since we found that a large portion of our jar seemed to mysteriously disappear more quickly than expected due to some sneaky little munchkins in our family with shimmering, autumn-scented skin. This scrub is that irresistible!
